Shawna Byrd
MA, Licensed Mental Health Counselor-Qualified Supervisor, Certified Case Manager

Seeking help from a therapist may not be something you really want to do, but perhaps you are at a point where not doing something is worse than the discomfort of getting help. Congratulations on taking the first step toward making your life better!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a nationally certified case manager (CCM) with over ten years of experience. I have worked in a variety of settings: private practice, inpatient mental health and traditional medical hospital, chemical dependency rehab and foster care reunification. That means that I have broad experience working with many different personalities and populations on many different issues.

My specialties are relationship and family issues, infidelity, career and work stress and mood disorders. There is a special place in my heart for those who work in healthcare, as my years of working in a hospital setting gave me an understanding of the stressors of nurses, doctors and other healthcare heroes.

Clients say that my counseling style is engaged, collaborative, warm, understanding and sometimes funny. Many clients say they can relate to me easily and they are often surprised at how quickly they feel better from our sessions. That is because I use a holistic lifestyle approach that borrows from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Relational Life Therapy, mindfulness and Neurolinguistic Programming. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy, so I individualize my technique to address you and your unique concerns. You are the expert in your own life and I am here to help you draw connections and gain insight about your life journey. Ultimately, you are the one doing the hard work and I want to respect the knowledge, experience and insight that you bring to each session.

Asking for help can feel overwhelming. You are showing great strength by taking your first step today.
